Group Programs
Check back regularly for information on upcoming group programs, including:
“123 Magic” ™ Parenting program
Recommended for parents of children aged 2-12yrs, 123 Magic explores parenting from an ‘inside-out’ approach, aiming to boost emotional regulation and restraint skills, as well as giving parents a clearer process for knowing when and how to respond to difficult behaviours. Strategies explored include counting and emotion coaching. The group operates for 3 weekly sessions of 2-2.5 hours and a parent workbook is provided.
“Engaging Adolescents” ™ Parenting program
Engaging Adolescents is targeted at parents of teenagers from 12yrs and up, and explores practical strategies to support parents in conducting difficult conversations with their adolescents about concerning behaviour. The program explores parenting from an ‘inside-out’ perspective, with a goal of increasing frustration-tolerance skills for teenagers as well as providing a clear model for parents in order to better keep a lid on their own emotions during tough conversations! The group operates for 3 weekly sessions of 2-2.5 hours and a parent workbook is provided.
“No Scaredy Cats” ™ Parenting program
I bet that title caught your attention! A new program developed in Australia, No Scaredy Cats is targeted towards parents of young children aged 2-12yrs and explores new knowledge and strategies to address normal worries and fears of children before potentially developing into more serious concerns. Utilising brain-based and emotion-regulation approaches, the program aims to boost resilience and robustness in children, as well as providing parents with a broad array of supportive tools to assist their children. The group operates for 3 weekly sessions of 2-2.5 hours and a parent workbook is provided – the program may also be run as a one-day intensive.
The group programs above can also be run with parents in individual/couple counselling sessions, to tailor materials to individual circumstances.
With sufficient numbers, we are also able to conduct parenting group programs through schools – ask your school Guidance Counsellor or Chaplain to contact us to find out more.
Other groups may be available custom-designed by request, such as relationship-building, parenting, assertiveness and communication skills – please contact us to find out more!
